Building the Foundation of America’s Future

Business, civic, and community leaders

The I-11 Coalition stands as a collective effort of business, civic, and community leaders united in advocating for the development of Interstate 11 and advancing the future of America's infrastructure. Our mission is to champion robust and sustainable infrastructure that safeguards the economic and security interests of our nation.

What is I-11?

I-11 is the newest Interstate in the American Southwest between Mexico and Nevada, linking the cities of Tucson, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Reno. The first section is open to traffic between Hoover Dam and Las Vegas.

Both the Arizona and Nevada Departments of Transportation have determined that I-11 will:

  • Establish a reliable transportation corridor that connects four metropolitan areas with over 9 million in population.

  • Grow business and enhance commercial activity throughout the Intermountain West.

  • Enhance trade between Mexico and the Western United States.

  • Upgrade a network of existing state highways to interstate standards to improve safety, travel times, and reliability.

  • Improve connections between ten military installations in Arizona and Nevada.

  • Boost tourism with better access to recreational areas and national parks in the American Southwest.

Where Are We Now & How Did We Get Here?

  • Since 2000, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has spent $500 million to acquire right-of-way and widen segments of U.S. 93 to four-lanes between Phoenix and Las Vegas.

  • Likewise, Nevada Transportation has been steadily improving segments of U.S. 95 between Las Vegas and Reno.

  • In 2012 and 2015, the U.S. Congress designated I-11 along significant segments of U.S. Highway 93 in Arizona and in Nevada.

  • ADOT and FHWA have completed a Tier 1 Environmental Impact Statement identifying a 2000-ft wide corridor through and between the Phoenix and Tucson metropolitan areas.

  • The Arizona Legislature appropriated $25 million for a Tier 2 Environmental Impact Statement and Design Concept Report to determine the centerline for the segment between Buckeye and Wickenburg.

  • ADOT continues to program corridor improvements along U.S. 93.

Our Next Steps…

Pursue resources and build a coalition of supporters to champion the completion of I-11.

Continue to program safety improvement and widening projects along U.S. 93 in Arizona and U.S. 95 in Nevada as part of an overall I-11 strategy.

In Arizona, establish a corridor phasing and implementation plan for constructing all 470- miles of I-11 at the earliest opportunity.

Support timely completion of the I-11 Buckeye to Wickenburg Tier 2 Environmental Impact Statement and Design Concept Report.

The time to plan and be engaged in this process is NOW! A project of this significance takes many years and a generation of focused leadership. We need your contributions, your expertise and your voice.
